BUILDING THE CAMP THEY DESERVE

The Youth & Family Wellness Camp delivers life-changing programs. The Ma’mo’weh Wii’soo’ka’tiwin Foundation builds and sustains the spaces that make them possible. Capital investments expand access. Operational funding sustains care. Through careful stewardship, the Foundation ensures donor investments translate into safe, dignified, and culturally grounded spaces where children and families can gather year after year.

A Place That Exists Today

Imagine a place where Indigenous children and youth from Treaty 3 and the City of Kenora grow up connected to their culture, their land, and each other, a place to gather, learn, heal, celebrate, and belong. That place exists today.

The Camp was built in response to urgent community need. While many organizations spend years planning before breaking ground, we could not wait. Children and families needed this space now. So we built what we could and kept going. Programs began. Families arrived. The Camp evolved in real time, guided by listening, learning, and community leadership. Today, the Foundation continues to steward capital investment so the Camp remains fully operational, safe, and accessible.

Near-Term Priority Projects

These projects unlock the full potential of the Youth & Family Wellness Camp. Every dollar brings spaces to life for children, youth, and families:

PROJECT COST WHY IT MATTERS
Indoor Riding Arena $476,000 Enables year-round equine programming, giving 1,200+ children therapeutic and leadership experiences every year.
Arts & Welcome Centre $200,000
Creates a welcoming arrival space and creative hub, supporting programs, gatherings, and cultural activities.
Cabins (5) $130,000 Ensures safe, comfortable year-round accommodation for campers, school groups, and leadership programs.

Total Near-Term Investment Needed: ~$1.2M

Completing these projects allows the Foundation to open spaces fully and safely, ensuring donor investments achieve their intended impact while creating spaces where culture, healing, and learning thrive.

Looking Ahead: The Next Phase of Growth

Beyond near-term priorities, the camp’s longer-term vision focuses on sustainable growth and deeper impact. The Foundation is guided by community priorities and plans to develop:

  • Utility upgrades for sustainable operations
  • Additional cabins to meet growing demand
  • Covered hockey rink for year-round sport, culture, and community gatherings
  • Permanent cultural infrastructure, including a Roundhouse and Pow Wow Arena
  • Expanded waterfront for land- and water-based learning
  • Dedicated staff housing to retain year-round Indigenous staff

By investing today, donors help move these long-term dreams closer to reality, ensuring that Indigenous children, youth, and families continue to have safe, welcoming, and culturally rich spaces for generations to come.

Why Capital Support Matters

Investing in capital is how the Foundation protects access, dignity, and long-term impact. Capital support:

  • Expands access to life-changing programs
  • Ensures safety, dignity, and year-round use
  • Strengthens pathways from camper → leader → staff
  • Creates spaces where culture, healing, and reconciliation thrive

Your gift is stewarded by the Foundation and experienced directly by children on the land.
